Felixstowe
Promenade along the seafront with its fine architecture, colourful beach huts and four miles of lovely beaches. Overlooking the waters are the newly restored seafront gardens, with their colourful and unusual planting, historical features and structures, that sit on cliffs between the town centre and beach.
The Seafront Gardens
The eight Grade II listed gardens are of significant historic interest and give the town its title, “The Garden Resort of East Anglia”. These beautiful landscaped and sumptuously planted gardens were created a hundred years ago, as a result of the popularity and fashion in late Victorian times for visiting coastal locations, in pursuit of improved health and relaxation.
The natural springs occurring along the cliffs, together with the proximity to the beach, encouraged this site to be developed as a pleasure ground around a pump room for people to take the spa waters. Today the interconnecting gardens stretch for almost a kilometre along the promenade, with a significant proportion of original planting still surviving and the original path layout little altered.
Vibrant Town
Just up the hill is the bustling town centre, home to a great selection of well-known stores, plus speciality boutiques, crafts, gifts here you can pick up something special as a souvenir of your day by the sea, then relax with a classic cream tea on the cliff-tops.

At the northern end of the town is the charming fishing and sailing hamlet of Felixstowe ferry, take a walk along the banks beside the river Deben, hop on the little foot ferry for a trip to Bawdsey, pick up some fresh fish for tea and see how many of the iconic Napoleonic Martello Towers you can spot.

Felixstowe Museum

The museum is managed by a team of friendly volunteers who are always happy to help. Their expertise is second to none and is always delivered with enthusiasm and a passion for history.
